Unmissable collector's set.
This is an amazing set. Not only does it includes all six of her studio albums as well as the one she made with Glen Campbell, but it also includes many demos, alternate versions and tracks that were never issued at all.The sound quality is outstanding. The last CD is all taken from BBC recordings and is a great bonus to have. The presentation is amazing too, although with it being a large box, in won't fit a CD rack. However, it does allow for a handsome full colour hardback book to be included. If you like Bobbie Gentry and enjoyed her recordings you couldn't do better than to get this. Classic box set by a classy musician.
This eight disc collection by Bobby Gentry has to be one of the best box sets ever. The packaging is lavish, the enclosed hardback book is informative and extensively illustrated by scores of photographs, and the music is stunning, incredibly varied and exquisitely remastered. Each disc has many bonus tracks and live versions of classic songs - some cover versions but most penned by Ms Gentry herself. Although on the surface a little pricey, after playing through the entire collection I consider the asking price to be a bargain. I believe this is a second print run for this box set, and one wonders if there will be many more in the future. Stunning - A Very Complete Package
Simply the best box set I've ever bought. It's comprehensive and beautifully presented both in the quality of mastering and the written book. It paints a rich picture of a remarkable artist and gives many examples of her craft especially in the alternate versions and previously unreleased tracks (inc more or less an entire jazz album that never saw the light of day.) All box sets should be this good. The care, the attention to detail, everything is top-notch. SHines a spotlight on a brilliant, pioneering artist. Super hard outside card box keeps everything secure, and will for years to come.
